Admiral Thomas Revell Shivers

Admiral Thomas Revell Shivers was born in 1751 and died in Wickham on 1 June 1827, aged 76. He was buried in St Nicholas churchyard on 8 June 1827.

According to the 1839 Tithe Map and the 1841 census, Shivers’ widow, Mary, was a landowner and lived in Havelock house.

Mary Shivers was born Mary South. Her sister married another naval man, Lieutenant-Commander Thomas Dorsett-Birchall.

Their nephew Colonel Sir James Buchanan Macaulay (1793–1859) was a lawyer and judge in colonial Canada. He died at the home he had built in Toronto which he called Wickham Lodge after the our village of Wickham.
