Who we are and how to contact us
Wickham History Society (WHS) is an unincorporated local history society with charitable objectives run by volunteers. Its purpose is to promote interest in local history and particularly in the history of Wickham through talks, visits, exhibitions, publications and archives. What personal data we collect and what we do with this data
We collect contact email, address and telephone numbers from WHS members. We retain this information for a year after the end of your membership year ceases in case you wish to re join or attend as a visitor.
We collect similar contact information from non members who have expressed information in attending WHS activities or to buy publications. We do not retain contact information after the event unless you have indicated in writing (or verbally if on the phone) that you are happy for us to keep in touch with you in which case we retain the information for upto a year.
We collect similar contact information from individuals contacting us to make enquiries or share information about Wickham’s history. We retain contact information for upto a year after your query in case additional information becomes available or longer if you state you wish us to do so.
What we will do with the data
WHS will use this data to keep in touch with you and deal with queries. We may also use it to send you mailings relating to news and activities. We also use your information for aggregate data analysis so that we can monitor membership, visitor and walk numbers. We do not share your contact data with other organisations. You can ask to have your data deleted at any time.
How we will store the data
WHS will store your contact data on a password protected database held by our membership secretary. Website contact information will be held in a password protected area on the website.
